Two doubles teams and two singles players for the Jefferson City Lady Jays earned all-district status while two doubles teams and a singles player turned in all-district performances for the Helias Lady Crusaders on Saturday in the Class 2 individual district tournament at the Crusader Athletic Complex.
Jefferson City's Sandhiya Baskar won the singles championship, defeating Jaspreet Kandola of Hannibal 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals, topping Kylie Bernskoetter of Helias 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals and winning the title match 6-2, 6-0 against top-seeded Ashley Firoved of Troy-Buchanan.
Bernskoetter opened with a win by forfeit against Troy-Buchanan's Faith McDonald. She was winning 5-2 when the match ended.
Bernskoetter defeated Jefferson City's Jaden Harper 6-3, 7-5 to take third for all-district honors.
Harper opened with a 6-4, 6-0 win against Amelia Truong of Wentzville: Holt before defeating Emma McCormick of Battle 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. She fell 3-6, 1-6 in the semifinals to Firoved.
Helias' Macy Markway won 6-2, 6-2 against Emma Haner of Hannibal before falling 0-6, 2-6 to Firoved.
The Lady Jays duo of Akhi Donthireddy and Madelyn Becker won the doubles championship.
They defeated Troy-Buchanan 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, they defeated second-seeded Carley Drinkard and Mya Bremer of Helias 6-2, 6-3.
In the championship match, Donthireddy and Becker defeated teammates Sudhi Kumar and Bailey Higgins 6-2, 6-4.
Kumar and Higgins defeated Elizabeth Brummel and Brooklyn Haye of Hannibal 6-1, 6-1, won 6-2, 6-1 against Josie Sneed and Kiersten Dooley of Wentzville: Holt and defeated top-seeded Jessica Cowley and Lainie Mantle of Helias 6-3, 6-4.
Cowley and Mantle won 6-2, 6-1 against Catherin Mennemeyer and Sisaleigh Holcomb of Troy-Buchanan. They also beat teammates Drinkard and Bremer 6-0, 6-2 to place third.
Baskar and the doubles teams of Donthireddy and Becker and Kumar and Higgins will compete in sectionals Tuesday at the Crusader Athletic Complex.
Jefferson City (14-8) will compete in the sectional round Saturday against Parkway Central in St Louis.
